HuntSmart is built around a simple question: which hunting opportunities actually fit me? Instead of reading hundreds of rows manually, you narrow the database, inspect the data that matters, and compare only the hunts that survive your filters.
Try the HuntSmart workflow
This is a safe demo. It does not change your account or saved hunts.
What you just learned
The important part of HuntSmart is not any one number. It is the sequence of decisions:
- Choose the jurisdiction. BC and Alberta use different draw systems.
- Choose the species. This removes irrelevant opportunities immediately.
- Filter geographically and by hunt characteristics.
- Read a hunt card. Current odds, season, authorizations, and other context live together.
- Inspect the historical trend. One year should not dominate the decision.
- Save and compare. Build a shortlist rather than memorizing hunt codes.
Why the historical trend matters
When a card shows historical draw information, the goal is to answer a different question from “what were last year's odds?” You are trying to determine whether the current result is typical, whether demand has been moving, and whether the hunt is consistently competitive.
Use the map when geography matters first
If you know where you want to hunt but not which code to apply for, the map is often the fastest entry point. Select the relevant areas, then let HuntSmart surface the draws connected to them.
Use filters when the opportunity matters first
If you care more about species, minimum odds, harvest success, or season timing than a specific management unit, begin with the draw filters. This is especially useful when you are willing to travel for a better opportunity.
Save before you decide
A saved list lets you separate discovery from decision-making. Shortlist anything that looks promising, then compare the finalists instead of repeatedly rebuilding the same filters.
Now try it with the real data.
Open HuntSmart and use the same workflow on your actual species, regions, and draw priorities.
